The next step...Four months ago I attended the WEVA Expo in Orlando, FL and was given a very rude awaking about the rest of the video industry while I was so focused on the storm chasing business that has been in for the lack of a better analogy, free fall due to all the cut backs in the news industry and viewer video. Now I’m happy to announce the next step in my career and spin off of BNVN… Ultimate Footage, wedding and event video productions. http://www.ultimatefootage.com No, I’m not quitting storm chasing but thanks to viewer video and other chasers giving their work away for free to get their names on TV, storm chasing for the most part for news video sales is a dying industry. Sure there is the new “Live Streaming Video” but in two years when every cell phone has live streaming video on it, everyone will be a storm chaser for the media. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to work with some great freelance videographers and news producers in the last decade to help me hone my videography skills. Now it’s time for me to use those skills for other production work. For those of you who are BNVN Stringers, this also does not mean that I will be shutting the company down, it just means that I will be around a heck of a lot more in the office editing video and shooting footage on the weekend. No this does not mean that I will quit storm chasing so don’t worry about me leaving the chase for good. It does mean that if I’m booked for a gig four months out in the middle of April, I know where I will be in four months and getting paid as opposed to hoping that there will be some storms to chase and hoping that I can afford to chase them and be the first with the video. We all remember what happened with Project Vortex in May of 2009, where there was nothing for them to chase. I just can’t afford to keep running BNVN when there is no weather. So in four months, as video sales for everyone in the news and stock industry have slide into a giant black hole of nothing, I regrouped, retooled and got things rolling to make 2010 an Ultimate Year.
